Finard Properties To Kick Off Poplar Plaza/Kroger Expansion Project
As part of an effort to continue a positive growth at the Memphis-based Poplar Plaza, Finard Properties LLC has announced the kick off of a multi-million dollar expansion project. Rick Smith, Director of Property Management for the 360,000 square foot center says “We are confident this redevelopment will benefit both tenants and patrons alike and will be another major step of progress for one of the city’s most well known shopping centers.”
For more than 25 years it has been the mission of Finard Properties, Memphis office, to create a strong retail environment, offer a pleasant shopping experience for patrons, and provide its merchants with superior property management.
From start to finish the project will take approximately eighteen months and will involve the demolition of two buildings on Prescott Street as well as the construction of a new, larger, state of the art Kroger building. Nine current tenants will be relocated in order to prepare the two Prescott Street buildings for the scheduled March demolition. Following that phase, the new 86,500 square foot Kroger will be constructed on the site. Kroger will continue to operate in their current building throughout the entire process until the Grand Opening in the new space, scheduled for late summer 2013. The last phase of the project will be the demolition of the old Kroger building to make space for additional parking.
Finard Properties, in partnership with AEW Capital Management, has completed the first phase of The Shops at Riverwood in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston. Phase II is set to begin imminently since the first phase has successfully transformed the former Bay State Paper Mill into a viable urban retail destination.
