University Mall has given away over $250,000 in scholarships to area students since 2001 and is pleased to announce that it is awarding another $25,000 in scholarships in 2010 ($5,000 each to five (5) area high school seniors). University Mall’s Scholarship of Excellence is designed to be awarded to students who embody excellence in academics, leadership, and community service. The recipients and their families attend a luncheon and awards ceremony held at the Mall on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
The 2010 recipients are AUBREY BRUECKNER, South Burlington High School, University of Massachusetts-Amherst; ALLISON BRULEY, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, University of Vermont; BROOKE CONNOR, Middlebury High School, St. Michael’s College; RIEL GOODMAN, Harwood Union High School, Oberlin College; KRISTY THYGESEN, Spaulding High School, University of Vermont.

University Mall announces the opening of their newest in-line store. Yankee Candle, based in Deerfield Massachusetts, opened its fourth Vermont store at University Mall in early April 2010. The General Contractor for the store’s 1,200 sf fit up was David Archie of Horizon Retail Construction, Sturtevant, Wisconsin. The store is located in the former MW Tux space.
The Shops at Riverwood, Hyde Park, MA

Phase 1 construction of The Shops at Riverwood is 95% complete. The majority of the site work has been completed and we welcomed our first two tenants to our center. Price Rite Supermarket occupies 36,431 sf and Sovereign Bank occupies 3,433 sf. Sovereign Bank’s grand opening occurred in January 2010 and Price Rite’s grand opening occurred in February 2010. Both businesses are up and running and performing well. We are actively pursuing new leasing opportunities, and securing new tenants will enable us to begin Phase 2 and construct the remaining buildings in the shopping center.

Hannaford will be hosting an Ocean Spray event in front of their store on July 6, 2010 from 1 pm - 6 pm. The event will include free samples, coupons, recipe books, and more.

Germantown Plaza, Germantown, TN

Century 21 signed a 5-year lease for 3,500 sf at Germantown Plaza, and the office should open in August 2010. Germantown Plaza also welcomes Bed Bath and Beyond with the opening of a 28,000 sf store. The addition of BBB completes part of the retenanting effort at the center with Hobby Lobby and Tuesday Morning. Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Overstuffed Deli opened in the new expansion area of Germantown Plaza.
